Buy to let mortgage market provides landlords with a strong start to 2012.

Buy to let mortgage research by specialist lender Paragon reveals that landlords are experiencing a positive start to 2012 aided by more lenders offering competitive products.

Many more buy to let mortgage products have been launched by lenders such as the Woolwich which are increasing property investment opportunities.

Specialist lender Paragon's Trends Report for the first quarter of 2012 asked landlords their view on planned property purchases, tenant demand and the buy to let market.

Of the buy to let landlords who took part in the trend survey, 20 per cent advised that they plan to purchase more buy to let property during the second quarter of 2012 because buy to let mortgage deals remain so competitively priced.

Of those planning to increase their property investment, around 46 per cent plan to purchase terraced houses and around 31 per cent plan to buy flats or maisonettes. This will help those first time purchasers on the bottom rung of the ladder looking for buyers so that they can move on.

Landlords questioned advised that tenant demand remained mostly unchanged during the first quarter of 2012 and 53 per cent said that they are expecting rental demand to increase during the next year.

Nigel Terrington who is the Chief Executive of Paragon commented saying that he found the first quarter survey trends interesting. Landlords are being shown to be optimistic about the coming year with plans to invest more which is good news for buy to let mortgage lending and the market as a whole.
