Clydesdale Bank mortgage deals subject to conveyancing changes.
Clydesdale Bank mortgage conveyancing panels are now being restricted to legal firms accredited by The Law Society’s Conveyancing Quality Scheme.
In their conveyancing changes the lenders advises that firms who already appear on its approved panel will be accepted for undertaking mortgage lending work.
The new Clydesdale Bank mortgage conveyancing arrangements will apply to all mortgage applications received after April 16 in England and Wales, conveyancing arrangements in Scotland will remain unchanged.
Desmond Hudson who is the chief executive of The Law Society commented saying that the move by the Clydesdale Bank for CQS to be a requirement for panel membership, demonstrates that CQS is a trusted community of skilled law practitioners.
So far The Law Society has accredited 1,300 law firms in both England and Wales. Firms who achieve CQS go through a rigorous application and assessment procedure and are periodically monitored once CQS has been granted.
Michael Webber the Head of Legal Services for Clydesdale Bank commented advising that the lender views CQS as a positive development and plans to encourage further membership of the scheme.
