Co-operative says it has no plans to scrap mortgage intermediary Platform.

The rumor was mortgage intermediary Platform was due to be scrapped by the Co-operative Bank.

However the Co-op have come forward to deny the rumour. A Co-operative spokesperson said that this is not the case, advising that the lender remains committed to the intermediary mortgage market.

The Co-op has advised that it intends to continue to offer intermediary lending through Platform, and currently has no plans to make any changes. In February this year the Co-op announced 80 staff had been placed in consultation at Platform.

Co-op say that it makes ongoing mortgage market reviews to ensure that it is taking the best approach to lending, which means that it is well positioned to best support the needs of both its customers and intermediaries.

The bank has announced plans to close Platform’s Canary Wharf office advising that departments will be relocated to other locations which will mainly be in Manchester. The bank has not commented on whether staff will be made redundant as a result of the consultation.
