Clydesdale and Yorkshire banks challenge Help to Buy mortgage rates.
Clydesdale and Yorkshire has released a fee free 5% deposit mortgage to challenge the current Help to Buy mortgages on offer.
For 95% LTV the lender offers an Help to Buy alternative at under 5%.
For first time buyers with a 5% deposit a 3 year fixed fee free rate of 4.99% is available. In addition the deal comes with £250 cashback and a free standard valuation.
The question whether this is competitive against lenders Help to Buy mortgage rates, is complicated by the fact at present Help to Buy deals are available for a 2 or 5 year fixed period only.
However as RBS and NatWest offer a fee free2 year fixed rate at 4.99% and the Halifax at 5.19% with a £995 fee, the Clydesdale and Yorkshire banks 2 year fix does offer a challenge to Help to Buy.
